We are excited to announce the launch of the MARMAPS project: “Open environmental eFolio for joint maritime spatial planning and conservation of the valuable Black Sea Basin marine ecosystems”.
This initiative, in which Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) is proud to be a partner, aims to raise awareness about the importance of conserving the Black Sea’s ecosystems. The project will run for 18 months, focusing on improving conservation efforts through digital tools and collaborative planning.
Key Objectives of the MARMAPS Project:
– Involve target groups in creating a decision support system for maritime spatial planning, to support biodiversity conservation and restoration.
– Improve access to open scientific data and tools via the environmental electronic eFolio.
– Engage stakeholders in capacity building, helping to adopt a conservation prioritization framework for marine protected areas (MPAs).
– Explore cross-border collaboration opportunities to strengthen regional conservation efforts.
